Trauma Therapy in Coquitlam

Lifespan Integration, IFS & trauma-informed counselling in person or online across BC

Trauma changes how your brain and body respond to the world. If you have lived through abuse, neglect, accidents, violence or ongoing childhood adversity, you are not broken — your nervous system adapted to survive. Therapy can help those survival responses soften so you can live more freely.

Signs trauma may still be affecting you

Trauma does not always look like flashbacks. It can quietly shape everyday life. You may recognise yourself in some of these experiences:

  • Feeling constantly on edge, hypervigilant or easily startled
  • Intrusive memories, nightmares or emotional flashbacks
  • Difficulty trusting others or setting boundaries
  • Patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism or self-criticism
  • Emotional numbness, shutdown or dissociation
  • Unexplained chronic pain, fatigue or health problems
  • Repeating relationship patterns that trace back to early experiences

How trauma therapy works with me

Healing from trauma should never feel rushed or re-traumatising. We begin with stabilisation — building safety, grounding and coping resources — before moving into processing at a pace your nervous system can tolerate.

Depending on your needs, we may use Lifespan Integration, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed CBT and ACT. These approaches help your brain process stuck memories so they lose their charge, without requiring you to relive every detail.

Childhood and intergenerational trauma

I have specialized training in working with childhood developmental trauma, including adversity, abuse and neglect, and I understand how cultural and intergenerational trauma can ripple through families. Sessions are available in person in Coquitlam or securely online anywhere in British Columbia.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to talk about everything that happened?

No. Trauma therapy is guided by your comfort level. Approaches like Lifespan Integration and IFS can be effective without narrating every detail of what happened. You stay in control of what and how much you share.

What is Lifespan Integration?

Lifespan Integration (LI) is a gentle, body-based therapy that uses visual imagination and a timeline of memories to help the mind and body recognize that past traumatic events are truly over, allowing the nervous system to settle into the present.

Can trauma therapy be done online?

Yes. Trauma therapy can be effective over secure video sessions, and many clients feel more comfortable opening up from their own home. I see online clients throughout British Columbia.
